Did you know that it is possible to actually have a party in a limousine? I didn’t until my twelve year old granddaughter received an invitation to such a party. They played board games, played music, watched a movie and had a great time.
Kids parties are not the only use for these party limos. Weddings or baby showers, hen and stag affairs, a wedding anniversary, special birthday, your mother or father’s birthday, engagement, are all possible reasons for hiring a party coach.
Just hiring a limousine for a few hours doesn’t make it a party limo. You need to let the rental company know how you intend to use the limousine. Some companies will help you plan your party and will even provide the cake, snacks and drinks for a fee.
Imagine how surprised and happy your mother would be if you did this for her birthday. If you want more than six to eight people you will want to consider a limo bus like the Hummer which can carry twenty two people very comfortably. Check with the limo car company to make certain that they can provide you with this type of service.
You can arrange to have the limo drive through your town or along the shore of a nearby lake or river. Why not play at being tourists in your own city and make stops at points of interest for drinks, a snack or a picture taking opportunity? How about stopping at the church where you were married, the oldest dwelling in town, a sports arena, the oldest structure or other historic point of interest such as parks, markets, museums, etc.? Very few of us are fully aware of what is available in our home town and a party limo excursion can remedy this situation.
If your party is to be a surprise bridal or baby shower, arrange to have the guest of honor picked up last. She will be really surprised and happy for the thoughtfulness of her family and friends who were responsible for arranging this “once in a lifetime” experience just for her.
Before you sign a contract for a limo make sure everything you requested or were promised by the company is in writing. Also be sure to understand your rights and responsibilities and that they too are explicitly mentioned in your contract.
For instance is there a point where you can cancel and get a refund? How far in advance do you need to book? Is there an extra charge for multiple stops? Can you get a smoking or non-smoking car? What recourse do you have if there is a problem: the car is late or doesn’t show at all, services stated in the contract are not provided, etc.?
When you have a limo party don’t leave the limo in a mess. Make sure you bring some plastic bags and pick up your trash. Wipe up any spills. There is usually a fee assessed for cleaning up after a party limo affair. However it is assumed that you will pick up wrapping paper and other trash. The company will do the vacuuming and other cleaning tasks.
A hen party or just a girl’s night out is one of the most popular limo party themes. A group of friends hire a party limousine just to enjoy each other’s company and have an evening of fun in a luxurious stretch limo. If you book this kind of experience remind everyone not to over indulge in alcohol. A driver can refuse to transport anyone he or she deems to be inebriated and or a threat to the safety of other passengers.
Some basic guidelines for limo behavior are:
# Safety of all passengers and the driver is the primary concern.
# Don’t distract or harass the driver.
# Orderly behavior - eg. no profanity or lewd behavior.
# No drinking by anyone under the age of 21.
# Clean up after yourself, bring a plastic bag for collecting trash.
# Check with the company for a smoking or non-smoking auto.
# No standing up in, or sitting on the sun roof.
# Use of privacy window is at the discretion of the driver.
# Remove all personal belongings at the end of your ride.
# Provide the driver with a tip of 15 to 20% of the cost of the rental.
Insist on inspecting the limo for dings or upholstery stains or tears before your party starts and make sure that the driver is aware. Write a list and have the driver sign it. This will protect you from being charged for damage done by someone else.
Look for a limousine rental company that advertises party limos. They can help you plan your party and will let you know what can and can’t be done at these parties.
Why not hire a pink or powder blue luxury limo for your friend’s baby shower depending on the projected sex of the baby. Tell the guests that if they are giving large gifts like furniture, carriages, etc., they should bring a picture of the gift otherwise your limo will be just a bit crowded.
University students often rent limos for fraternity and sorority parties. Surprisingly there is not a big increase in damage to the vehicles in these situations as one might expect.
Often people who are going on a cruise hire a limo rather than a taxi to take them to the port. This way their luxury fun vacation starts a little earlier than they expected, in a party limo.
There are many choices to make when you want to rent a limo. What size limo do you need? That depends on how many people you intend to transport. You need to discuss this with your rental agent. You can get a limo bus that can hold about twenty two people.
Which type of limo should I get? What use will you make of the limousine? You probably don’t need a bar and snacks for a ½ hour trip to the airport. Do you want a pink or blue car? You need to discuss all of this with the party limo rental dealer. After all she is the expert.
